Knox County GLEANERS

Member of Maine Gleaning Network

Knox County Gleaners (KCG) started in January of 2019 with the support of the Harvard Pilgrim Healthy Food Fund and is based out of the Penquis CAP office in Rockland.  In our first gleaning year we worked with 5 Knox County farms including Erickson Fields, our Mainers Feeding Mainers farm. Our gleanings go to food pantries, soup kitchens, and group homes. We helped to finance a “root cellar” - a climate controlled storage area - at the new AIO Food Pantry in Rockland for all Knox County pantries to use, and for KCG to make gleaned vegetables available for the pantries to pick up. As we move into our second year we will be deepening our relationships with our partner farms and expanding distribution to share tables and increasing the amount of vegetables we supply to our local pantries. We are a founding member of the Knox County Food Council.
