Central Maine Gleaners Group is a volunteer-powered gleaning group working to bring gleaned food to area food banks and soup kitchens in central Maine (Augusta area).
Healthy Communities of the Capital Area (HCCA) is a public health organization focused on convening people, organizations, and communities to collaborate on quality of life and public health issues. Home to Reducing Wasted Food and Increasing Access to Fresh, Local Foods in Southern Kennebec County - a Harvard Pilgrim HealthCare Foundation funded collaboration with Kennebec Sheriff’s Office.
Healthy Waterville has developed an action team that recognizes food recovery as one of the primary areas of action:
"Our primary goal is to increase awareness of how to reduce food waste at home, at our businesses and our institutions. We are also working on food recovery efforts such as gleaning local farms to benefit our free food resources." www.healthynorthernkennebec.me
