Member of Maine Gleaning Network

Capital Area Gleaners is a gleaning project in southern Kennebec County that was developed in the fall of 2020 in partnership with Maine SNAP-Ed. We are hosted by Healthy Communities of the Capital Area, a Gardiner-based non-profit working on local, public health district, and state-level goals to improve public health.

We currently supply the Augusta Food Bank with gleaned produce from Andrews farm in Gardiner, as well as educational materials like recipes, storage tips, and nutrition information. We are actively working on expanding our suppliers, distributors and volunteer base. If you are a farmer or volunteer interested in joining this work, please reach out to Alexis Guy, SNAP-Ed Nutrition Educator, at a.guy@hccame.org. We would love to have you on board!
